  • Present Moment Counseling Services resides in Edwardsville, Illinois (and so do I!). But with the magic of telehealth, I can see therapy clients statewide in Missouri, and Illinois. Parent coaching is open to clients worldwide via my separate practice, Present Parent Coaching Services.

  • Yes, I offer in-person sessions at my office in Edwardsville, Illinois but if that doesn’t work in your schedule, telehealth is always available. I also offer “walk and talk” sessions a local parks!

  • I am an out-of-network provider for insurance companies. This means that I don’t bill your insurance and I’m not paneled with any insurance provider. I can, however, provide therapy clients with a superbill (which is an insurance-specific receipt) for any services rendered. You can then submit this superbill to your insurance company if they offer reimbursement for out of network services. Different insurance companies reimburse at different rates, so you’ll need to contact your insurance company directly to better understand your out-of-network benefits for mental health services.

  • Generally speaking, 50-minute therapy sessions are $175/session. Parent coaching sessions vary; you can find out more information about coaching here.

  • Therapy and coaching can seem similar from afar, but they have distinct techniques, approaches, and programming.

    THERAPY:

-Long-term support to change ongoing thinking and behavioral patterns that interfere with daily functioning

-Treats symptoms of. a mental health diagnosis (given or suspected), like anxiety, postpartum depression, OCD, etc.

-Therapists are clinically licensed in their field after extensive training and education in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. They are responsible to their client, but also their overseeing body and board.

-Can be useful for exploring your history, relationships, or ongoing behavior patterns.

-Therapy is introspective. It encompasses the past, present, and future.

    COACHING:

-Short-term support to address acute issues and provide a plan of action to overcome immediate stress

-Elevate performance for those functioning on a more typical/ordinary baseline level

-Coaches can be certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) but there is no overseeing body to ensure coaches are ethical or abiding by any particular set of standards.

-Coaches meet clients in the present, to help them in the future. The work is goal-oriented and creates a plan of action.

  • Whether we’re meeting for therapy or coaching services, we’ll start with getting to know each other. I’ll ask you questions about yourself and you’re welcome to ask about me as well. We’ll narrow down a few goals, then discuss how we might work to reach them.

  • Effective 1/1/2023, certified health care providers are required to give a "good faith estimate" of healthcare charges to every new and continuing client who is either uninsured or is not planning to submit a claim to their insurance for healthcare services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost, psychotherapy services included. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

Because my services generally run $175/session, a client receiving weekly services for six months can expect to pay $4.200 for six months of weekly psychotherapy service.

You may ask your health care provider, or any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate.

The Good Faith Estimate does not account for late cancellations, no-show fees, crisis sessions, non-therapeutic charges, case management fees, court litigation fees, or other financial arrangements determined on a case by case basis.

  • Currently, I schedule clients between 9am and 4pm Tuesday through Friday.

  • Listen, I’m a mom. I know the need for flexibility. If you are unable to attend your appointment, I just ask that you give at least 24 hours notice of your cancellation in order to avoid being charged the full session fee. I will do my best to reschedule if you’d like to do so. If you do not cancel within 24 hours, you will be charged the full session fee, unless the cancellation is due to illness.
